Today Grey Bear Consultancy celebrates its second year of business, and what an incredible two years it has been! Having started out supporting our pharmaceutical partners, we are now working with awesome clients in a variety of sectors. Our team is growing, we have been recognised with awards and accreditations, and we have more exciting projects on the horizon. But how did it all begin?

Founder, Emma Clayton, began her career in the pharma industry, and in her various roles in marketing and communications across the years she spotted an opportunity for an agency partner to not only have in-depth experience working client side but also a top knowledge of the NHS and its changing policies. As a working Mum and looking for more flexibility in life Emma decided to start her own consultancy, that would offer just that. The fact that Emma has been in the shoes of many of our clients highlights why Grey Bear has been the success it has already. We understand the problems and issues that companies face, especially in specific sectors like healthcare and fintech. Emma didn’t stop there though, recognising that there were too few women in senior leader positions in the NHS Emma also successfully built a network of female NHS leaders who she supports on a pro-bono basis with all things leadership, in return for the odd spot of advice along the way.

“It is so important that everyone that works with our clients knows and understand the challenges that our clients face and can tailor programmes that are not only relevant to the client, but most importantly are needed and relished by the NHS stakeholders. We believe that we achieve just that – and our clients really appreciate the insights we bring, delivering great outcomes for all.”

Grey Bear Consultancy provides a director led service made up of a team of experts that each have a minimum ten years of experience in their specialism. Each person that works on any project is undertaking it at Director level, meaning the output of Grey Bear is exceptionally high quality. It also means the work is completed efficiently, which ultimately saves our clients’ money on projects.

Grey Bear is also the beacon for true flexible working. Being a working Mum, Emma believes that flexible working isn’t readily available enough for employees in the UK, often meaning that many talented people are being overlooked, generally only because they have other personal commitments such as caring for family and relatives or just wanting a better work-life balance. This limits many people to certain locations and hours.

Grey Bear operates with complete flexibility, allowing all employees to choose when and where they work from. This has resulted in an incredibly loyal and dedicated group of people, who excel in their projects. And as the saying goes, “happy employees equals happy customers.”
